I mentioned in my Everyday Natural Makeup Routine post that skincare is more important to me than makeup.
Makeup can be fun to play with, but you have to look after the canvas and that means a good skincare routine!
I’ve been really keen to try new skincare products lately and find the perfect skincare routine. I’m always on the hunt for something to test.
I have mostly dry, pretty sensitive and very stubborn skin.
Both my morning and evening skincare routines have miraculously upgraded from just moisturiser.
The first thing I do when I get out of bed is cleanse away all the nastiness of the night (dead skin cells and sweat, eww).
A single, light cleanse with either a milk or gel cleanser feels so good.
La Roche-Posay Makeup Remover Micellar Water Gel
Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser
I did originally use the micellar water gel as a makeup remover but didn’t find it as effective as The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, so I’m trying to use it up in the AM and as my second cleanse after more thorough makeup removal in the evenings.
I finished, loved and want more of the Avene cleanser though!
Philosophy Purity Hydra-Bounce Eye Gel
I don’t often use eye treatments in the morning, but if I’m looking extra tired or my undereyes feel extra dry, I’ll pat on some of this.
The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics
Once I have a clean face, I need a kick of hydration. Hydra/hyaluronic anything is my best friend.
The Ordinary Buffet
After hydrating I treat. This product is great for:
- adding a little extra hydration
- helping combat fine lines
- fading dark marks
- evening out complexion
Both of these are super lightweight and a thin consistency, so it doesn’t feel like I’m caking layers of oil onto my face as you may expect with the word “serum”. It’s more like rubbing 8 drops of water into my skin.

Moisturiser & SPF
Palmer’s 100% Aloe Vera Gel
If I’m not leaving the house or wearing makeup, this will be my final product.
I like that it’s a gel and absorbs straight into the skin, contrary to most creams. Of course, my sensitive skin also loves aloe vera.
The Body Shop Multi Protection Lotion
This has been my go-to SPF for a while and I’ll use it as long as I’m leaving the house.
It may seem like a lot in writing, but it’s honestly not. It’s super quick to get through this routine.
Since I added serums into my skincare routines and started cleansing properly and regularly, I really noticed a difference in the condition of my skin.
