I received the COLAB Dry Shampoo + Extra Volume when I had day 6 hair. No better time to put it to the test!
Firstly, the packaging is beautiful. I mean……….
This dry shampoo retails for £4.49 for 200ml and you can find it at Boots or Feelunique – both have a loyalty programme, which is great. Rack up your points!
[At the time of posting, it’s currently 1/3 off at Boots]
The instructions state to:
- Shake well, hold the can 20cm from dry hair & spray into the roots
- Tease with fingertips to achieve instantly effortless backcombed volume, texture & lift. Brush through to finish if required
- Layer more product to build height & body for amazing texture
This product feels a bit like hairspray at first, and can make the hair quite stiff. The stiffness goes away over time, so you may prefer to apply this the night before.
It sprays quite shockingly white, but this completely disappears after rubbing or brushing. No white residue to be seen.
COLAB products are scented, and the Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo carries their classic scent. This is quite floral, but is pleasant and not overpowering. It adds a little freshness to your hair without you feeling like an open perfume bottle. It’s unnoticeable once the product settles or you leave the room you sprayed it in.
I did a poll on Instagram, asking what day hair this looked like:
The most votes were for day 3, followed by day 4, followed by next day hair.
Remember I actually had day 6 hair? This proves that the COLAB dry shampoo definitely freshens up your hair by at least 2 days.

If volumising hair products work for you, this product will be great.
I personally haven’t found a way to volumise my roots as my hair is heavy, but this definitely adds texture and volume to the lengths, ends and front of my hair.
The main thing is: it absorbs so much grease!
This could comfortably be used to freshen up day 2 or 3 hair if you don’t want to tie it up.
If you’re feeling particularly desperate on or beyond day 4, you could definitely get away with using this for an updo. Depending on your hair type, you may even be comfortable wearing your hair down.
All in all, the COLAB Dry Shampoo + Extreme Volume lives up to its claims and is a fantastic product. It’s super affordable and I would recommend it to anyone searching for a new dry shampoo, especially if you like a little added texture and/or volume.
